Scott is a dedicated real estate professional focusing predominately on complex real estate problems for a variety of public and private organizations. In June of 2013, Scott acquired D.R. Coell & Associates (DRC) and as acting President led the new team as it expanded to embrace the demands of the quickly changing market in terms of technology, finance, human resources and marketing. Scott is now a Principal Partner and focuses on mentoring team members and new business acquisition.

Mishelle Martin

Principal

AACI, P.App, RI

Mishelle Martin completed the Urban Land Economics Diploma through the Sauder School of Business at UBC in 2007. She worked as a residential appraiser for 6 years before joining the D.R. Coell & Associates team in July 2013. In January 2015 Mishelle became a Partner in the firm.

Mishelle is a designated AACI, P.App and CRA appraiser with the Appraisal Institute of Canada (AIC); a professional member of the Real Estate Institute of BC and an associate member of the Victoria Real Estate Board.

Mishelle has appraised a variety of properties including commercial, office, industrial and multi-family residential. Mishelle specializes in development properties.

Mishelle’s vast background in real estate properties and dedication to high quality service ensures a rewarding experience for all of her clients.

Rick Howard

SENIOR ASSOCIATE

AACI, P. App., CRP, CPPA.

Rick Howard has over 25 years experience in real estate appraisal, insurance appraisals, reserve fund studies and the valuation of personal property. Rick holds an AACI, P.App. through the Appraisal Institute of Canada (AIC), which is the highest real estate appraisal designation in the country. He is also a Certified Reserve Fund Planner (CRP) through the Real Estate Institute of Canada (REIC), and is a Certified Personal Property Appraiser (CPPA) through the Canadian Personal Property Appraisers Group.

Jackson Biehl

ASSOCIATE

Jackson Biehl joined Canadian Self Storage Valuation Services in spring of 2019 as an Appraisal Assistant, formerly working in an administrative role for the BC Public Service. Jackson graduated from St. Francis Xavier University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science, Honours in Chemistry. He is currently enrolled in the UBC Sauder School of Business working towards the Accredited Appraiser Canadian Institute (AACI, P.App) designation.

Alanna Gagliani

Alanna Gagliani joined Canadian Self Storage Valuation Services in 2015 as the office administrator before shortly realizing she has great admiration for the appraisal field. Alanna graduated from the University of Victoria with a Bachelor of Science in Biology in June of 2014 and is now continuing her education at the University of British Columbia Sauder School of Business, working towards her Accredited Appraiser Canadian Institute (AACI, P. App.) designation. Alanna is now an Associate focusing on all types of commercial real estate assets including, but not limited to office, multifamily, industrial, retail, and development land as well as specializes in the appraisal of First Nations interests throughout B.C.

Ryan Patterson

Ryan Patterson joined Canadian Self Storage Valuation Services in 2017 as an Associate after moving back to his home town of Victoria, BC. Ryan graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 2008 and is now continuing his education at the University of British Columbia Sauder School of Business, working towards his Accredited Appraiser Canadian Institute (AACI, P. App.) designation. Ryan focuses on all types of commercial real estate assets including, but not limited to office, multifamily, industrial, retail and development land as well as specializes in the appraisal of large master planned communities.

Liam Fast

Liam Fast is an accredited Appraiser with Canadian Self Storage Valuation Services. He has over 6 years of real estate appraisal experience and over a decade of experience working in appraisal offices. Liam was awarded the AACI, P.App designation in early-2019 and has experience in the valuation of a broad range of property types, specializing in commercial property assessment appeal and advisory, rent arbitrations and negotiations and litigation work.

David Thompson

ASSOCIATE

David Thompson joined Canadian Self Storage Valuation Services in the spring of 2019.  He has been practicing real estate appraisal since 2012 when he began his career in Nanaimo, before moving to Victoria in 2013.  David is working towards his AACI, P.App designation with the Appraisal Institute of Canada and is finishing his final courses.  He has experience with a wide variety of property classes including commercial, industrial, forestry, agricultural, multi-family and residential.  Previous assignments have been for, taxation, division of assets, expropriation, insurance, lease arbitration, partial takings, conservation and financing.  He has a wealth of information regarding real estate on Vancouver Island, having completed appraisals from Victoria to Port Hardy, including remote west coast locations and the Gulf Islands.  In his free time, you can find him enjoying the amazing outdoor opportunities Vancouver Island has to offer.

Rachel Hansen

Rachel joined Canadian Self Storage Valuation Services in the Spring of 2018. She is currently pursuing her degree in Business Administration. Rachel’s dedication to constant learning and problem solving have made her a valuable asset to our team. She is particularly interested in creative solutions to make processes more effective and efficient for all users. Rachel’s motto is “leave it with me” and we are confident that no matter what you need Rachel will be able to help
